Some Kind of Treat for All Ages

Bunny's got a gun.Just because all of us actual, breathing DJs have been thrown off the air in favor of an increasingly sad auto-rock, doesn't mean that we can't continue to have our timeless holiday traditions around here. And so, on that note, we once again proudly present our classic tale of the greatest Easter vermin of them all:

...tequila.

And by "timeless holiday tradition", I of course mean "growing increasingly dated every year that I trot this out".

(You see, kids, back in the early naughts, Mariah Carey... oh, nevermind.)

#417: See you space cowboy. (w/ guest host Tsubaki Nekoi)

And after many years (for some, well over a decade, even two) of keeping this station on the air, we get blown off with a three-line form letter. This, my friends, is the very definition of "chickenshit".

Feel free to write in to the University of Scranton with your complaints about the elimination of weekend programming to satisfy a station manager's personal grudge:

Note that I'm pretty much done here, regardless. Eight years of wasting my Saturdays on what can only be described as an abusive relationship is enough for me. But please go ahead and make your opinions known for those like T. O'Hearn and Roman Grecco, who wish to continue fighting the good fight.

Now, this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. Stay tuned to this blog for a new web-based audio entertainment product in the weeks to come. 'Cause I paid $10 for this domain name, and dammit, I'm gonna use it! Besides, who actually listens to the radio anymore?

And now, our Roman Grecco Theme Continuation Moment, continuing the theme of "Radio" heard today on the Grecian Formula, which airs... oh, right, it doesn't air anymore. Nevermind! This is Swedish band The Drowners, with a song from their album Muted to a Whisper, an excellent disc that I found in the garbage can in the management office many years ago, which goes to show you how long this place has been going downhill.

This song is called "On the Radio", and, well, it would have required a lot of editing if I actually did have to play it on the air, so maybe this is for the best:

What did we learn on today's programme?
  • Despite all evidence to the contrary, Kid Icarus is actually a Minneapolis-based band.
  • Reading all of these host names will give one laryngitis for a month.
  • Speaking of which, I should have asked Conan to lend me the Bugatti Veyron Mouse for this show.
  • Going out with all of your proverbial guns a-blazing on the air may not be the most productive thing in the world to do, but damn does it feel good.
Bang.

Frequency Demodulation

The WUSR Transmitter
On this week's episode, Electroman strikes again, taking the WUSR transmitter (what's left of it) off the air until somebody can drive up to the top of Bald Mtn. to switch it back on! (SPOILER ALERT: ain't gonna happen.)

Tune in next week, as we kick off our annual "Welcome Freshmen" show a full week after the freshman have moved in, causing it to make no sense whatsoever! Either that, or the station will be on fire. The fire is looking more likely right now, actually.

And now, as is tradition here on the blog, it's time for a special web-only edition of the Magic Miku Moment, in which we feature the musical stylings of Miku Hatsune, Japan's computer-generated vocal diva, and author of the new book "Self-healing through MTBI"

#416: of Parking Meter Futility (w/ guest host Some Allegedly-cute Abandoned Duckling Your Aunt Bertha Found on Facebook)

Maybe if Scranton stopped tyring to milk every last quarter they could get out of people who work in the city, more businesses would actually locate in the city, instead of in the boroughs or other regions entirely. Just a thought.

#415: We're not recovering from the Bush debacle fast enough, let's just vote ourselves back into the stone age! (w/ guest host Nell (and cat Pepper))

And I assume that once the Republicans start forcing rape victims to bear their attackers' children, the next step will be to stone them to death after giving birth, for having sex without being married to the person. But nevermind that, it's that scary big government Obamacare socialism secret Muslim agenda with no birth cirtificate that's really going to bring this country down!!!!1111one

Why the hell did we ever let those states back into the union? Anybody know? Any chance we can still give Texas back to Mexico? They don't want it, either? Well, damn. What if we throw in U... nah, nobody wants Utah.

What did we learn on today's programme?

  • People who attempt to rob the drive-thru at Wendy's are really, really stupid.
  • The Tea Party is full of people who attempt to rob the drive-thru at Wendy's.

Dead Air Disco

WUSR Power Conditioner
This is the power conditioner located in the lobby of the WUSR studios. It stabilizes incoming power before sending it off to our sensitive, and extremely expensive broadcasting equipment. Note that should this conditioner lose power for whatever reason, it will be a minimum of several hours before the station can be brought back on the air. But no worries. As long as that little green light remains lit, everything is just peachy-keen in WUSR-land.

Wait, what do you mean the light isn't on?

Darkened studio
Well, damn.

Anyway, here's another special online-only edition of the Magic Miku Moment, in which we feature the musical stylings of Japanese computer-generated vocal diva, and now V8 spokesperson, Miku Hatsune:

Next week: everybody gripes about how Catholic Charismatics don't know how to park! Be there!

#414: Eviction Notice (w/ guest host Los Angeles County Inmate #2409752)

In which all of the WUSR DJs who actually show up for their programs are officially told that they're being kicked out in favor of more student programs. You know, the ones that come in for three weeks, then are never seen again. Because they shouldn't have any problem at all filling in the Saturday time slots! I mean, look at 6 and 8 PM: Those time slots have only been open since... ohhhh... 2003. So no worries. Hooray for power trips!

Today's episode is brought to you by the all-new Blue Bear Grille and Tavern! Now featuring the words "Grille" and "Tavern" in its name! Tavern, that's a classy word right there. And that's a genuine 'e' in "grille", accept no substitutəs. That's the Blue Bear Grille and Tavern, still conveniently located in South Side, next to the shady Mexican restaurant, across the street from where someone left an old sofa on the curb!
